Want to practice generosity but don't have a lot of cash? In an age of decreasing attention spans, the single most significant act of generosity is giving someone your attention.
"Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity" -Simone Weil
Of course, giving more attention to family, friends and loved ones is probably the easiest place to start. The best opportunity to strengthen your generosity muscle is when you give attention to those people in your life that oftentimes go unnoticed. These are the people who are providing important, sometimes unglamorous, services. These are the ones who make life better, safer, cleaner or just more interesting if we are paying attention.
We discovered an awesome podcast last year called "Crazy Good Turns". The first episode of their second season is titled "Unsung Heroes" and the story in it is a definite expression of this form of generosity.
